GKS adds another FARO arm for on-site measurement and reverse engineering.

GKS Inspection Services (Plymouth, MI) has purchased a fourth FARO Platinum portable-CMM articulated arm to once again increase the capacity of its Detroit-area dimensional inspection services. This is the second new FARO arm in less than six months, allowing the company, which is a division of Laser Design Inc. (Minneapolis, MN), to answer the demand for portable on-site scanning, inspection, and reverse engineering services.

The new 12-foot arm is fully integrated with both a touch probe and a Laser Design 3D laser scanner. GKS’ system configuration includes FARO’s CAM2 measurement software and contact probes, along with a Laser Design SLP-330 laser scanner and a laptop PC loaded with Geomagic software. Also, by switching in the SLP-2000 high-speed laser probe with an 8 in.-long (200mm) laser line and dual CMOS receptors, GKS can scan even larger parts at a customer site.
