Gibbs and Associates (Moorpark, CA), developer of GibbsCAM for programming CNC machine tools and a Cimatron company, says initial feedback is positive from customers who have already received GibbsCAM 2009.

Features in GibbsCAM 2009 fall into the categories of milling, turning, user interface and productivity, and interoperability. They include milling additions and enhancements, advanced 3D HSM (high-speed machining) in contour, constant step over cut, flats cut, and lace cut, which is like parallel machining, but cutting in a single direction. Other features include intersections, automatic core detection, and improved pocketing.

Milling, turning additions, and other enhancements include new lathe features and MTM enhancements to Sync Manager.

User interface and productivity enhancements include multi-CPU support and batch processing; faster simulation; multiple view ports, panes and pop-up windows; multiple (unlimited) undo/redo; graphics pre-selection; enhancements for cut part rendering; hidden-line toolpath display; additions for interoperability; updated certification; and multiple CAD system support.
