Version 15.09 offers some new features and port to AMD Opteron.

Gridgen Version 15.09 CFD meshing software has now been ported to the Silicon Graphics (Mountain View, CA) Prism Deskside workstation, according to a press release from Pointwise (Fort Worth, TX). 

Pointwise’s Gridgen software generates structured, unstructured, andhybrid meshes; interfaces with CFD solvers such as FLUENT, STAR-CD, andANSYS CFX, as well as neutral formats such as CGNS; runs on Windows(Intel and AMD), Linux (Intel and AMD), Mac, and Unix; and has ascripting language that can automate CFD meshing.

“The first SGI workstation to which Gridgen was ported was a Model 2400back in 1987,” said John Steinbrenner, Pointwise’s vice president ofresearch and development, in a press statement. “Gridgenhas been available on Linux for five years now and it remains ourfastest-growing platform. The result of combining Linux and SGI’shardware is a platform that’s well suited for Gridgen.” Gridgen’s portto the Prism was facilitated by the QuickTransit software fromTransitive.

Some new features released in Gridgen V15.09 include solid modeling, adeformation-based scheme for pyramid cell generation in hybrid meshes,a new native interface to the FrontFlow flow solver, upgraded nativeinterfaces to the FIELDVIEW CFD postprocessor and the Cobalt andSTAR-CD flow solvers, and a port to AMD Opteron (Windows and Linux).
