Helium Announces Sensor Development Kit

The IoT startup is also including two new Web APIs as part of its offering.

Helium, an Internet of Things (IoT) company, has introduced the Helium Sensor Development Kit to help IoT developers expand access to the Helium full stack platform.

The kit includes a Helium Smart Sensor with a new extensible daughtercard, and new Web APIs (application programming interfaces) which help users monitor and prototype sensors in their environment.

According to the company, the Helium Sensor Development Kit was created to accelerate time to market for IoT developers and enterprise solution providers. With software-defined, field-programmable sensors that leverage the power of the Helium Platform, users can create intelligent solutions for efficiency, comfort, safety and operation within enterprise and industrial environments. With a simple and straightforward deployment and management system for sensors, Helium enables users to focus on adding intelligence through a unique software-led approach, integrating new capabilities that help connected things learn over time and asking sensors to behave in new ways, a press release states.

“The possibilities of the Helium platform are endless, particularly with the ability to quickly bring more insights from new smart sensors into any enterprise solution,” said Rob Chandhok, President and Chief Operating Officer, Helium. “We’ve already built in the necessary security protocols and network connectivity, and as we continue to enhance the Helium platform, we can’t wait to see the myriad of high value solutions that IoT developers and enterprises create.”
