ICEM Ltd. (Southampton, UK) announced ICEM Surf 4.8, the latest version of its Class A surface modeling, analysis and visualization software.

Version 4.8 of ICEM Surf introduces improved geometric modeling functions, as well as comprehensive enhancements in the area of visualization providing new capabilities for digital reviews, all in real time.

Enhancements include new possibilities in the Matching of Curves and Surfaces, extended capabilities to the Projection and Blending of Curves, and the possibility to store the control points of Volume Modeling. In addition to that, improvements in performance and data management within Reference Manager have taken place,  as well as more options for display and structuring data in it.

The options for navigation have been improved also. Other key developments include an extension of entities supported by the ICEM DB format, enhancements to the import STL capability to maintain data integrity of Facet Colors on import.

The ICEM Surf 4.8 visualization environment has been enhanced to introduce a new level of realism to digital reviews by the introduction of a new Depth of Field function to allow users to simulate camera options of Apertures and distances of renderings.

To further improve the visual representation of materials options have been added to enable the user to set transparency of the alpha channels of materials.

ICEM Surf 4.8 includes Windows XP 64 Bit and Windows Vista 64 Bit. Users can use Firefox 3 web browser to view ICEM Surf Online Help pages.
