Carline, an add-on for automotive assembly line designers, is available as a built-in feature for version 9.0 from IronCAD(Atlanta, GA). Featured in the add-on are Carline, Reference Line, andCheck Sheet commands that simplify the jig and fixture documentationprocess for designers by bringing standard assembly line designcapabilities into 3D CAD design.

Jigs and fixtures are part-holding tools used in automotive assemblylines. These units are placed using the World Coordinate System, whichis relative to the assembly line's start. Most MCAD software basesdistance on part and edge separation, which does not follow WorldCoordinate System format, making it difficult for jig designers togauge distance from the assembly line's start. The add-on also includesReference Line creations to support jig and fixture documentation whenthe assembly is based in a rotated coordinate system. Check Sheet isanother add-on feature, which gathers checkpoint information from the3D environment for transfer into predefined Excel templates. Thecoordinates of that checkpoint are automatically transferred into theappropriate fields.

These capabilities make the Carline system an important addition toIronCAD's existing library of industry-specific tools. For moreinformation on IronCAD, visit ironcad.com.
