Laser Design Inc. (Minneapolis, MN) is now shipping 64-bit computers with all of its Surveyor 3D laser scanning systems. 64-bit systems not only add increased data processing speed, they allow for double to quadruple the amount of system memory vs. a standard 32-bit system. This all translates to faster scanning speeds, faster processing speeds, and more reliable service when working with extremely large files. The more than 4GB of RAM make it possible for users to capture and manipulate much larger point clouds.

File sizes can quickly grow larger when scanning at high density, which can cause systems to crash. 64-bit computers with larger RAM capacity and the SLP probes, in concert with Surveyor Scan Control (SSC)  software are instrumental in reducing the time and effort of data capture and 3D point cloud creation.

Laser Design can offer the same expanded file capacity and processing speed on the portable Surveyor FA-Series systems as well that have recently become available.
