Laser Scanning Solutions (LSS) has released the warpSCAN II series of Laser Marking Heads for marking, laser materials processing, electronics production, microstructuring, rapid manufacturing, sterolithography, and medical applications (e.g. stent cutting).

Designed for high-volume industrial applications, the galvanometer scanners are said to be compact (6.6 in. x 4.62 in. x 5.75 in.), dust proof, temperature-stabilized marking heads featuring very low drift, and high stability.

Customizable with galvanometer mirrors and objectives as well as optimized mounts for all typical laser types and image fields, the warpSCAN II series is available in 7 mm, 10 mm, and 14 mm aperture sizes. A LSS RTC interface board can be used to control all Scan Heads in this series as they include an analog (± 5 VDC) or digital (XYZ-100 standard) input signal interface.

Among the performance features listed in the press materials for the warpSCAN II series are the following:

Dynamic Performance: Repeatability < 22 μrad,  Tracking Error as low as 0.11 ms, and Long-term Drift < 0.3 mrad;

Optical Performance: Typical Scan Angle ± 0.35 mrad, Gain Error < 5 mrad, Zero Offset <5 mrad, and Skew < 1.5 mrad.   Marking speeds are: 3.5 m/s (7 mm), 2.5 m/s (10 mm), and 1.5 m/s (14 mm aperture mirrors) and writing speeds to 1100 CPS (characters per second).
