Lattice Technology (San Francisco, CA),  developers of digital manufacturing applications using the XVL format,  announced Version 9.2 of its XVL Player and XVL Player Pro products.

XVL Player is the company’s free 3D data viewer that enables designers, engineers, and manufacturers to view 3D data and 3D animations, measure, cross-section, and share XVL data at no charge. XVL Player Pro, available for a small fee,  delivers additional, more powerful functions within the XVL Viewer environment.

XVL is a lightweight 3D format that enables the industry’s best 3D compression rates with no loss of accuracy of the data. With compression between 50 – 200 times smaller than original 3D data file size, designers needing to share and reuse massive 3D CAD assemblies can do so easily using XVL and retain very high accuracy of the data. XVL data in 3D, including assembly animations, process instructions, and simulations are created using Lattice Technology’s XVL Studio products. The XVL Player allows free viewing of that data without requiring high-end CAD systems or robust hardware platforms.

Lattice Technology Inc. also announced the availability of Version 2.1 for Lattice3D Reporter, a digital manufacturing application that allows 3D CAD data, process information and linked parts lists to be shared in Microsoft Excel spreadsheets.

Lattice3D Reporter inserts 3D data into a spreadsheet, and allows parts lists, BOMs, and process instructions in the same spreadsheet to inter-relate to the 3D parts in the assembly. Assembly and disassembly animations saved in the 3D data can also be displayed, while the user can choose to display the 3D data in shaded, edge,  and illustration modes depending on their corporate standards and preferences. Users are required to convert their 3D CAD data into XVL prior to using Lattice3D Reporter. Lattice3D Reporter V 2.1 offers improved data handling,  creating a parts lists based on the disassembly tree, image Printing Improvements, Snapshot Image Improvements, and 3D spreadsheets created using Lattice3D Reporter can be viewed using the Free Viewer for Lattice3D Reporter,  supplied at no charge by Lattice Technology.
