IBM Corp. and Hitachi, Ltd. will spend the next two years trying to build smaller and smaller semiconductors — hoping to create intelligent chips little bigger than an atom.
The duo will focus on 32 and 22 nanometer (one nanometer is a mere billionth of a meter) semiconductors, a direction AMD and Intel are also headed.
Such small processors save power and increase density, allowing for smaller and smaller devices, and will ultimately revolutionize our machines.
