Matrox Graphics Inc. (Montreal, QUE) recently announced the newest addition to its Graphics eXpansion Modules (GXM) product line, the DualHead2Go Digital Edition. A palm-sized external device, DualHead2Go Digital Edition lets you create dual-monitor setup with your notebook or desktop quickly and inexpensively. The GXM series eliminates any need to open your computer or to purchase a dual-monitor capable graphics card upgrade because it uses your system's 2D, 3D, and video acceleration graphics hardware. Your operating system detects the external GXM box as an ultra-widescreen monitor, which is then split into two or more standard resolutions. With the DualHead2Go Digital Edition and depending upon your system, you can push your desktop at resolutions of up to 3840 X 1200 stretched across two displays, giving you an effective resolution of 1920 X 1200 per display.
DualHead2Go Digital Edition comes with Matrox PowerDesk SE software for Windows. This software manages window positioning and message pop-ups. It also provides an interface for selecting a range of resolutions, including support for widescreen and standard aspect ratios.
Also available are DualHead2Go Analog Edition and TripleHead2Go Digital and Analog Editions. DualHead2Go Analog Edition supports a system-dependent maximum resolution of up to 2560 X 1024 (or 1280 X 1024) across two analog displays (1280 X 1024 per monitor). As its name implies, TripleHead2Go supports three screens. Both the Analog and Digital Edition of TripleHead2Go offer a maximum resolution of up to 1280 X 1024 per screen across three digital monitors (3840 X 1024).
DualHead2Go Digital Edition includes support for Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows XP-64 bit operating systems and Mac OS X v10.4, and is compatible with many desktops and notebooks. Minimum requirements are a single VGA output connector, display driver supporting 2048 X 768 or 2560 X 1024 resolution, and a powered USB connector.
