Roland DG Corporation has launched its newest 3D laser scanner series,  the LPX-60/600/1200 DS (Design Scanner), which features the EZ Studio and Dr. PICZA 3 scan control software for the scanning of objects to generate 3D data by pressing a button.

The LPX Design Scanner series is said to make it possible for users to use 3D data in their regular business activities and research. It is possible to present research results with 3D image models and to compile object databases with 3D images. Original models can be used to create computer graphics (CG) images from the scanned 3D data. Because the Scanner Series is said to be easy to use,  it can appeal to a wider audience with its three models: LPX-600DS for large,  versatile scanning capacity, LPX-1200DS for high-resolution detailed scanning and LPX-60DS for affordable and compact scanning. The Roland EZ Studio scanning software is included for high-resolution, one touch automated scanning. The Roland Dr. PICZA 3 software provides full user control for both rotary and indexed scanning features designed for objects that have complex forms and undercuts.

LPX scans can be saved in a variety of 3D CAD formats, including STL, GSF (Geometry Systems native file format), 3DM (Rhino 3D format), and PIX (Roland Picza format).
