Motor-CAD Version 3 by Magsoft Corporation(Ballston Spa, NY) is now available for distribution. This new release,co-developed with Motor Design Ltd. of Shropshire, UK, offers a rangeof improved interface, simulation and post-processing technologies.

Motor-CAD V3 now includes these machine types: brushless permanentmagnet motors, brushless permanent magnet motors with an outside rotor, brush permanent magnet motors, single and three-phase induction motors, switched reluctance motors, synchronous generators, and claw polegenerators.

The templates of the Motor-CAD interface have been enhanced and nowinclude a material database for solids and the ability to directlyassign materials to machine components, a water jacket capability inboth the slot and rotor regions, strategic fixed temperature injectionpoints, multiple layout options for the housing fins, and dynamicmemory allocation for complex duty cycle analysis.

Users can now customize the format of their transient solution data, aswell as save desired graph settings and re-use them for alternatesolutions. They can also utilize the differential solution mode tocompare one solution to another, or use the export technology totransform either the steady-state or transient data into a popularstandard file format.
