Maplesoft Updates DynaFlexPro

New usability features reduce learning curve for complex mechanical systems.

Users of the new DynaFlexPro 3.0, the Maple-based design tool for mechanical system modeling and simulation from Maplesoft (Waterloo, Canada), can now produce models of complex mechanical systems without knowing anything about linear graph theory or the Maple command syntax.

DynaFlexPro 3.0, which is used to model and simulate the kinematics and dynamics of mechanical multibody systems, is now relevant to a wider range of engineers. New features include a Project Manager that guides users through the model development process; a Model Development Guide for creating new models and generating equations; an Equation Builder Assistant that aids in converting the model description to kinematic and dynamic equations that describe the motion of the system, and gives the ability to select the base coordinate system to which the other system reference frames are mapped -- even if users are not familiar with graph theory.

DynaFlexPro ModelBuilder, a graphical model development interface, facilitates the rapid creation of system models using blocks, lines, and drop-down menus.

Designed by MotionPro Inc. (http://www.motionpro.ca), and launched under the MapleConnect Premier program, DynaFlexPro uses Maple to symbolically generate the equations of motion for the mechanism. The robust computer algebra technologies in Maple create efficient sets of system equations in a symbolic form, which facilitates viewing, physical insight, and sharing – an approach is also suitable for teaching mechanical system design.
