Materialise NV (Leuven, Belgium), asoftware developer for additive manufacturing (AM), released Magics 13,allowing users to facilitate work preparation, work more efficiently, andenhance customer service.
Tofacilitate work preparation, users can control part quality by visualizingoverlap, rescale parts to match the bounding box or a measurement with anexpected value, and benefit from SmartSpace’s increased flexibility — youcan select parts in the 3D workspace or assign degrees of rotational freedom.
To improvethe efficiency, Magics 13 enhances communication by generating documents inExcel through the entire process, such as quotations, order confirmations,quality control; you can import or export a customized Magics profile easilyand save all customizations in one .mpf file, and you can import batches of.STL, .MGX, .magics files, or CAD files, allowing you to fix all your filesautomatically.
To enhanceyour customer service, you can import .OBJ files, allowing you to read yourcustomer data. .OBJ files can contain colors and textures and can be exportedfrom Maya, Rhino, 3D Studio Max, etc., and more.
Users cansave time by communicating with external tools, such as e-Stage, allowing youto run e-Stage on a remote computer. With e-Stage, support generation is fullyautomated.
Materialisehas also joined forces with LayerWise (Leuven, Belgium) to take advantage of the opportunities of metal rapidmanufacturing. LayerWise not only focuses on prototyping, but opens up thepotential for the serial production of metal components in stainless steel,tool steel, and titanium alloys — the material properties allow themanufacturing of high strength tool inserts with integrated cooling.
