MatterFab Unveils Industrial 3D Metal Printer, Additive Manufacturing Platform

The technology has been developed for powder bed fusion metal 3D printing.

Matterfab has unveiled its low-cost industrial 3D metal printer and, according to the company, will help create opportunities for manufacturers in the injection molding, medical and aerospace industries. The outfit is also looking to lower total cost of ownership for industrial additive printing, with reduced machine, support and material costs.

For its system, MatterFab has developed a U.S.-based powder bed fusion metal 3D printer. The platform to support its printers features data-driven CAD, custom materials, integrated quality assurance and scalable enterprise controls. Clients can also access flexible software, extensive APIs (application programming interfaces) and cloud integration to support their manufacturing needs.

“The next barrier faced by additive manufacturing is affordable 3D printing using a variety of metals.  Make that ‘was.’  MatterFab has just crashed through that barrier,” said Kim Brand, president of 3D Parts Manufacturing.
