The new Model 2100 6 1/2-Digit USB Digital Multimeter (DMM) is designed for a wide range of production test, burn-in, and manual and semi-automatic R&D applications in bench, portable, or small system measurement configurations.

Offered at $795 through September, the newest member of the family of precision GPIB-based DMMs from Keithley Instruments, Inc. (Cleveland, OH), the Model 2100 is a USB-based instrument that complements Keithley's existing line. It features 10VDC accuracy of 38ppm 6 1/2-digit resolution at a measurement rate of 50 readings/second (at 6 1/2 digits) over the USB bus. At 4 1/2 digits, the Model 2100 reads more than 2000 readings/second into its internal 2000-reading data buffer.

The 11 measurement parameters are in volts, ohms, amps, and RTD temperature, as well as MX+B, dB, and dBm math modifiers. Fully specified accuracies are valid for one year on all functions for ISO-compliant applications and facilities.

The Model 2100 also offers selectable front and rear inputs plus two- and four-wire remote sense resistance inputs that facilitate use as both a standalone benchtop DMM or in small systems applications.

The Model 2100's USB interface supports the TMC protocol, allowing SCPI commands to be sent over the USB bus for added data transfer and control options. It includes KI-Tool, a built-in graphic utility that enables trend plotting and data transfer to a PC. It also includes an add-in tool that is used for importing data directly into Excel and Word documents.
