Diamond Systems Corporation (Mountain View, CA) announced its latest PC/104 form factor single board computer (SBC), Rhodeus, based on the AMD LX800 processor.
Rhodeus offers mid-range computing power in a compact, low power consumption and low cost PC/104 single board computer. Rhodeus is suited for low cost / high volume applications with mid-range performance requirements, such as medical equipment, process control, and instrumentation.
Rhodeus uses the AMD Geode LX800 processor operating fan-less at 500MHz. It includes 64KB L1 cache and 128KB L2 cache. The board supports up to 1GB of DDR SDRAM using an SO-DIMM socket. It provides both IDE and CompactFlash mass storage options. Video consists of an integrated VGA controller with 2D acceleration and support for high-resolution CRT and LCD displays. A full set of I/O is provided to support application requirements, including Ethernet, UDMA-33 IDE, 2 USB 2.0 ports, one RS-232, and one RS-232/422/485 serial port, floppy, legacy keyboard and mouse, and programmable watchdog timer. Power consumption is 5W typical, and operating temperature is 0-60 degrees C. The board includes the PC/104 ISA bus for additional I/O expansion. Prices start under $350 in small quantities for models with 256MB of DDR SDRAM; volume discounts are available.
