NextComputing (Nashua, NH) announced up to four removable hard drives on its flextops and rugged portable computers,  the NextDimension Evo and Evo HD, and the Vigor Evo HD.

The offering that increase the company’s removable hard drive offering from two to four meets the demand for high-speed data transfer, redundancy, security, and large storage capacity from users across a number of industries.

High-speed data capture applications realize the benefits of using multiple removable drives within RAID array configurations to achieve optimized application performance and simultaneously back up data securely.

This newest feature from NextComputing effectively provides two terabytes (TB) of removable storage. ISVs within all markets benefit from more than one OS drive for use on demonstration systems, a suitable application for NextComputing’s line of portable flextop computers.

Removable storage is also very secure, allowing the physical separation of data from the input/output device, preventing access to stored and remnant data.

By accommodating up to four removable hard drives, NextComputing’s server/workstation class flextop computers are the most secure, high-speed data solution in a portable form factor available, says the company. The drives,  available in multiple capacities ranging from 100GB to 500GB, are housed in a casing that allows easy removal. The drives are also “hot-swappable” when using Windows, thus they can easily be removed and replaced while the system rebuilds a new drive immediately.

NextComputing uses Seagate Technology’s (Scotts Valley,  CA) Momentus drives, which offer low power consumption, free-fall protection,  and industry-leading performance.
