As the user base of Parasolid-powered applications is now estimated to exceed two million, UGS Corp. (Plano, TX) recently released an updated version of the PLM geometric modeling component software, Parasolid version 18.1.

Parasolid V18.1 includes new modeling functionality for blending, sweeping, and tapering, and increased automation in offsetting, patterning, and imprinting. Interoperability support now includes enhanced continuity in geometry construction. There are optimizations in tolerant modeling and model interrogation, and new options in rendering, previewing, and tracking.

Also announced recently was Version 9.1 of Parasolid Bodyshop, a toolkit for 3D models imported into Parasolid. UGS says that this release includes enhancements in output pre-processing, tolerancing, quality, and performance.
