Altair Engineering (Troy, MI) has announced that SGI (Mountain View,CA) will integrate Altair's PBS Professional workload manager on thenew family of Linux-based SGI Altix XE clusters. Factory integration ofPBS Professional will provide a competitive advantage for SGI customersin managing mixed workloads, according to a statement by an SGIspokesperson.

PBS Professional is an open HPC solution for scheduling and managingcomputational workloads. Among its objects is to increase theefficiency of enterprises hardware and software resources, which, inturn, should reduce total cost of ownership.

PBS Professional is a part of Altair's PBS GridWorks suite oftechnologies for grid computing, which include the e-compute web portaland a number of professional services. PBS Professional is alsointegrated with the Scali Manage cluster management and monitoringsystem from Scali, Inc. (Marlborough, MA).
