Adobe (San Jose, CA) LiveCycle PDF Generator 3D, part of the LiveCycle Enterprise Suite (ES) Update 1, is a server-based solution that can be centrally deployed across the enterprise to convert product data into more secure PDF files with the aim of reducing costs and improving communication with your supply chain. Think of it as an automated Acrobat for the enterprise. It was designed to complement your company’s existing core business systems and processes by enabling the sharing and archiving of digital information in PDF documents. It enables greater access to virtually any product data by a much broader audience, across the globally extended enterprise.

Adobe has designed PDF Generator 3D to integrate 2D and 3D design data from multiple MCAD formats and product information from a wide variety of applications into a single PDF file. Your company’s PDF files can be shared up and down the product development stream, allowing secure access to product manufacturing information (PMI), parts lists, datasheets, engineering change order information, Microsoft Office documents, and more while speeding up the entire process. It can also be used as an archiving solution.

Because PDF Generator 3D lives on a server network, it is easy to include centralized PDF file creation within established business applications and processes. Because of flexible deployment options, it easily plugs into and complements existing business systems and processes to customize how employees create PDF documents. It can be integrated within a customer’s PLM environment and the PDF documents members of your team generate can be automatically optimized for file size, resolution, and security to support your organization’s business processes, corporate guidelines, or government regulations.

As long as your team has the free Adobe Reader, you can authorize anyone to access critical project information when they need it. LiveCycle PDF Generator 3D ES helps improve business process efficiency by leveraging a single, trusted document that is fully searchable, It also makes it easy to convert PDF documents to other file formats, such as TIFF, PNG, JPEG, and HTML, when those formats are needed in corporate systems.

PDF Generator also helps extend many of the PDF document assembly, disassembly, and manipulation features of Adobe Acrobat desktop products, letting you automatically create information-rich, high-volume custom documents on an enterprise server.

Some of the formats supported include AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, OneSpace Designer, CATIA V4 an V5, IGES, JTopen, Pro/ENGINEER, I-deas, NX, Parasolid, Solid Edge, SolidWorks, STEP Exchange, Universal 3D, Microsoft Office, OpenOffice.org, Microsoft Visio, Microsoft Project, Print files (PS, PRN, EPS), Web files (HTML), and Image formats (JPEG, GIF, BMP, TIFF, PNG).

The LiveCycle PDF Generator 3D ES solution component (including LiveCycle PDF Generator ES) is priced at $60,000 per CPU, or $300 per user with a minimum of 100 users.
