Platform Computing(Markham, ONT) has announced Platform LSF for V5 PLM, a product thatgrid enables product lifecycle management (PLM). LSF for V5 PLM isdesigned to optimizeresources and address computing infrastructure challenges forenterprises in such fields as aerospace and automotive. According toPlatformComputing, as PLM needs expand to encompass all businessprocesses, the IT infrastructure must effectively managecompute-intensive operations.

While PLM pulls together all CAD, CAE, CAM, and PDM operations in aneffort to form a single multidisciplinary design loop to streamlineproduction, Platform LSF manages PLM's ability to automate all theseoperations effeciently by distributing the workload among a company's CPUs. The endresult is more efficient and effective use of CPU power, faster operations, andreduced costs.

To answer this challenge, Platform has partnered with Dassault Systemes(DS) to schedule batch workloads for a range of PLM applications withinDS' V5 PLM environment across a distributed IT environment. PlatformLSF is anchored by Platform Enterprise Grid Orchestrator (EGO), whichmanages and optimizes enterprise IT environments.

Platform and Dassault Systemes moved to fill what they saw as a marketgap after developing custom integrations of LSF and V5 PLM forcustomers in the automotive industry. As a result, Platform LSF for V5PLM has been configured for clients of both Platform and Dassault.
