The addition of a native Tecplot interface to Pointwise’s (Fort Worth, TX) Gridgen CFD meshing software, version 15.10, enables Gridgen users to seamlessly migrate their mesh data to Tecplot (Bellevue, WA) to take advantage of its visualization capabilities.

In a recent poll conducted by the company asking which file formats its customers used for data exchange within their CFD processes, John Chawner, Pointwise’s president, explained, "The file format most requested was the Tecplot native PLT file."

Its Gridgen software generates structured, unstructured, and hybrid meshes; interfaces with CFD solvers such as FLUENT, STAR-CD, and ANSYS CFX as well as many neutral formats such as CGNS; runs on Windows (Intel and AMD), Linux (Intel and AMD), Mac, and Unix; and has a scripting language that can automate CFD meshing.

Pointwise is focused on mesh generation for computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and its CFD preprocessing toolkit is used by manufacturing firms and research organizations worldwide.

More information about Gridgen is available on Pointwise's website or at Tecplot, Inc.
