Pointwise, Inc. (Fort Worth, TX) announcedVersion 16.02, the latest release of its Pointwise mesh generation software forcomputational fluid dynamics (CFD) featuring mesh quality evaluation andmonitoring tools.

Pointwise, said to be the next-generation meshing software for CFD, has been in productionuse for more than a year. The marquee feature in the software's second updateprovides a suite of tools for mesh quality interrogation and monitoring. Theuser can apply techniques like drag-and-drop cutting planes, and probingindividual mesh cells to gain detailed insight into the suitability of the meshaccording to 25 metric functions.

A newcapability for automated and proactive mesh quality monitoring provides the userwith a top-down, global view of mesh quality.

PointwiseVersion 16.02 includes other new features such as 20 new native CAE solverinterfaces, including OpenFOAM, and more geometry-modeling capability (such asCoons patches, sweep surfaces, and fillets); 2D grids; and several Gridgencompatibility tools to further aid in the transition to Pointwise's newinterface.
