Print3D (Redding, CA) announced its real-time quoting engine, Print3D version 1.0, now available as a free download.

Offered as a standalone PC application and a plug-in for several major CAD systems, Print3D v. 1.0 simplifies the ordering of designs into production.

What CAD users receive are guaranteed, real-time quotes for plastic or metal prototypes of components they are designing. The integrated interface allows users to customize their order by adding finish options or paint, after which they can send their request directly from their 3D modeler to rapid prototyping facilities.

Using this download, CAD users can check costs anytime iteratively during the design process. Print3D also saves time for users in that they don’t have to export or upload each part to a website, they can order by using Print3D to automatically package their design into a password-encrypted data stream directly to the Print3D secure FTP site.

Included in the announcement is the release of plug-ins specifically programmed for integration into the applications AutoCAD, Rhinoceros, SolidWorks, SolidEdge, Alibre Design, and SpaceClaim.

Also accepted by the stand-alone Print3D 1.0 are 3D models from several vendor-neutral formats including IGES and STEP, which make it possible for any CAD user to access the service. The company plans to release seven more plug-ins in the coming months, for Pro/ENGINEER, Revit,  Maya, 3DMax, IntelliCAD, IronCAD, and KeyCreator.
