Remcom has upgraded XFdtd Release 7 (XF7) with several new features and enhancements. This point release, which updates XFdtd to Release 7.1, introduces XACT Accurate Cell Technology, a meshing and computation method that the company says produces faster, more accurate results when modeling complex shapes.

XACT resolves intricate designs with fewer computational resources, according to the company. Benefits include faster run times and the ability to simulate complicated geometries. Geometric features, including curved surfaces and small gaps, are resolved using a sub-cellular conformal method.

Remcom says XACT capabilities include:

  • Improved simulation time
  • Visualizing conformal contours
  • Performs in conjunction with XStream GPU, multiprocessor, and MPI acceleration technologies
  • Represents small gaps and curved surfaces
  • Increases accuracy of results
  •

“While sub-cell techniques are not new, XACT builds on existing technology to provide a unified technique for representing thin and/or curved shapes within a cell while retaining XFdtd’s unique capability of making the real mesh visible to the user,” says Scott Langdon, product manager for XFdtd.

Another enhancement in the XF7 upgrade is the XTend Script Library. The scripting capabilities of XF7 allow users to adapt the software to their processes and extend the functionality of the tool. In addition to XTend’s pre-loaded scripts, users may customize and automate processes as they wish.

XF7 is available in both Pro and Bio-Pro versions. Both include XStream GPU acceleration, 32- or 64-bit analysis module, geometric modeler and postprocessor, shared memory multiprocessor (MPM) at eight cores,  and 3D CAD import modules. The Bio-Pro version also includes SAR capability and human body meshes.
