SensAble Technologies Announces Latest Version of Dental Lab System

Sensable Technologies, Inc. (Woburn,MA), a provider of haptic devices and touch-enabled modeling solutions, has made available a new version of its SensAble Dental Lab System (SDLS). The solution is an integrated CAD/CAM solution designed to scan, design and fabricate a wide variety of dental restorations. Version 2 expands those initial features to include capabilities for full contour crown & bridge restorations, and make it possible accomplish the design and production of removable partials in less time.

The SensAble Dental Lab System is capable of creating metal and flexible partials, in addition to full contour crown and bridge. Its tightly integrated components – a 3D scanner, design system, resin printer and case management software – provide the basis for a more streamlined workflow. What Version 2 adds to the equation is digital tools that make it possible to design a wider range of both fixed and removable restorations. It also offers the flexibility for users to manage “real-world” cases that can’t be predicted and can be challenging for a CAD/CAM system.

Force-feedback haptics where technicians use a touch-enabled stylus in place of a computer mouse makes it possible for them to manipulate virtual wax-up tools to essentially “feel” the on-screen model as they make changes in “digital wax.” Technicians can implement their artistry skills using this digital design method and achieve precision in modeling dental restorations.
