Conference to explore the future of graphics convenes August 5-9.

By Doug Barney

On August 5, some 25,000 computer graphics aficionados will descend on sunny San Diego for SIGGRAPH 2007 to see the latest in graphics software, hardware, peripherals, and thinking.

Our August 7 issue will bring you all the news. For now you’ll have to make do with just a taste.

While I love hearing about new processors, displays, and apps, I’m most intrigued by the research from top academics and vendor technologists that is always unveiled at the show. Half the stuff, I admit, is well over my head, but it is clear that techniques to create more realistic man-made images, more easily produced cutaways, and even make better bubbles (seriously) will all be discussed. We’ll keep you posted.

Are you going to SIGGRAPH? If so, what are you looking for? Let us know by writing [email protected].
