SimScale GmbH, which provides an SaaS application for engineering simulation, announced today that it has achieved the corporate carbon neutral label. SimScale, a simulation software offering broad physics capabilities used by leading global engineering firms, has been working on a wider environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategy. 

As part of the exercise, SimScale has worked with Climate Partner, a leading solution provider for corporate climate action, to understand its carbon footprint and identify reduction measures. The immediate task was to measure  and reduce carbon emissions and then offset unabated emissions by supporting a verified climate project. The SimScale team chose a sustainable energy project in Aït Ougrour, Morocco that produces solar power and has an annual emission reduction of over 270,000 tons of CO2. The project is certified using the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) – the world’s most widely used greenhouse gas (GHG) crediting program and contributes directly to the UN Sustainable Development Goals 7 (Affordable & Clean Energy), 8 (Decent Work & Economic Growth), and 13 (Climate Action). SimScale customers who need to report on their suppliers for Scope 3 emissions for example, can use the corporate level data from SimScale. 

SimScale works with architects, engineers, and urban planners to design better buildings and cities by offering fast and accessible software for environmental design. Recently, SimScale organized a World Cities Day event on simulating and adapting cities for climate resilience. The event brought together leading global experts on adapting the built environment to a changing climate. SimScale is committed to developing climate tech to accelerate the transition to a net-zero world and so far in 2023 has offset 100% of its carbon emissions and will continue to do so.
