SmartCAMcnc has released SmartCAM 2015. This version includes a new Knowledge-Based Machining (KBM) repository, added High-Speed Machining strategies and a variety of usability improvements. The software is ideal for computer numerically controlled (CNC) milling, turning, fabrication and wire EDM.

The new KBM functionality enables users to store frequently-used toolpath process parameters and apply them later. Part materials can be defined within the applications, as well as speed/feed settings. A new Machine Definition feature saves all files associated with a particular machine for future use.

High-Speed Machining improvements include new roughing and finishing toolpath capabilities. Closed-profile continuous morphing and ramping strategies have also been added. Restmill Region Calculation has also been enhanced.

"SmartCAM 2015 introduces a new Knowledge-Based Machining database that will serve as the backbone for all of SmartCAM's manufacturing data needs," said Douglas Oliver, senior product manager, SmartCAMcnc. "With SmartCAM 2015 users will be able to store their best-practice, commonly-used toolpath processes and parameters and recall them for future re-use. Additionally, the enhanced Material Definition makes it easier for the casual user to take advantage of the powerful Material Library capabilities, and the new Machine interface simplifies job setup."
