Leica ScanStation2 adds coordinate lock feature.

The Leica ScanStation 2 pulsed laser scanning system from Leica Geosystems (Norcross, GA) offers a maximum instantaneous scan speed of 50,000 points per second, more than 10 times that of the previous ScanStation. The ScanStation 2 is expected to ship in mid- to late August.

The ScanStation 2 is suited for high-density scanning of building facades and plant and structural as-builts. New features include a coordinate lock function that allows a user to point the scanner’s visible green beam to specific, preselected coordinates such as drill or attachment points. For surveying fine features such as bolt head geometry and architectural details, users can reduce the minimum point-to-point spacing in any scan. compensation for traversing and resectioning, and survey-grade accuracy for each measurement.
