Surfware, Inc. (Camarillo, CA) announced that it is shipping SURFCAM Velocity 4, which provides improvements to 3-axis finishing, 4-axis machining, and 5-axis machining. The company says SURFCAM Velocity 4 is a major new release, and beta testers send good reports.

With increasing demands for shorter cycle times and improved part quality,  high-speed machining (HSM) — a critical component for the success of many machine shops — is offered by SURFCAM Velocity 4’s new 3-Axis HSM strategies that feature smooth and fluid toolpaths for surface finish while accommodating maximum cutting speeds.

In 4/5-Axis Machining, SURFCAM Velocity 4 Multi-Axis offers a simultaneous 4/5-axis solution. Gouge avoidance strategies allow users to specify up to four separate check surface groups; individual gouge avoidance strategies can be applied to each successive group. New lead-in and lead-out moves control the tool motion when approaching or leaving the machined part.

For users who dropped SURFCAM maintenance in 2008, Surfware is offering a SURFCAM maintenance promotional offer.
