Synergis Software, the independent software development division of Synergis Technologies, Inc. (Quakertown, PA), has recently made available Synergis Adept 7, the latest version of its engineering and product data management (EDM/PDM) system for multi-CAD product design environments.

Adept 7 has tighter integration with Microsoft Windows and leading 2D and 3D CAD applications, with specific support for SolidWorks configurations and AutoCAD layouts, including SolidWorks 2007, AutoCAD 2007-based products, and Autodesk Inventor 11. The company says the software also delivers increased performance by as much as 90 percent over Adept 6 for certain functions.

Adept 7 will also support FTP compression options available in third party servers, including FileZilla, CuteFTP, and Serv-U. This feature provides an extra measure of speed for viewing and transferring documents, signing documents in and out, and other operations requiring file transmission. The actual speed of transmission will vary, but tests show typical transfer rates have been improved by 50-70 percent when tested over a wide area network.

Adept 7 now imports and updates user names and group information from the Windows Active Directory, allowing users to maintain a single login for both Adept and Windows. Once user names and groups are imported, an Adept Administrator can assign user and group permissions.

Adept 7, which includes a free commercial license of MySQL 5.0 (a retail value of $595), lists for $1,300 per concurrent license.  The Annual Maintenance Agreement lists for $325 per concurrent license.
