Tekna, provider of advanced materials, set up partnership with Burloak Technologies (Burloak), a Canada-based additive manufacturing (AM) company, to supply materials for production of more than 50,000 satellite components. The collaboration supports Burloak’s role in manufacturing advanced flight hardware for the MDA Aurora program.

Through the agreement, Tekna will supply aluminum metal powders engineered for use in high-performance aerospace applications. The powders, produced through Tekna’s Plasma Atomization process, are certified to meet AS9100D aerospace quality standards as well as Nadcap accreditation for metallic powder manufacturing.

"By joining forces with a global leader in advanced materials, we are able to deliver critical 3D printed flight hardware in the satellite industry," says Jason Ball, general manager of Burloak.

Burloak’s use of Tekna’s high-purity powders allows for design freedom in components such as antennas, mounts, and structural supports, the companies report.

"It is always an honor to collaborate with innovation leaders like Burloak,” says Claude Jean, CEO of Tekna. “We see strong global demand—and growing momentum in Canada—for additively manufactured satellite components. Together, we’re helping shape the future of space manufacturing."

Both companies acknowledge their commitments to advancing the national and global space manufacturing ecosystem.
