Visionware3D, a Sydney, Australia-based company in 3D printing software, announces the Z-Engine, a software platform that streamlines and accelerates the creation of 3D printers.

The Z-Engine is a customizable, modular 3D printing engine control software designed to reduce the time and resources needed to develop 3D printers. This solution offers support for the 3D printing workflow, compatible with a range of printers, from low-cost personal models to high-end industrial machines.

The Z-Engine is made for companies developing new 3D printers as well as for established companies wanting to move away from legacy code or that are interested in adding specific features and utilizing the Z-Engine advanced functionality.

The Z-Engine provides a prebuilt framework with:

  • Modular Design: Z-Engine’s modular architecture allows developers to select the specific features needed for their printer design.
  • Platform Agnostic: The Z-Engine runs on Windows and various Linux-based embedded systems and offers application programming interfaces compatible with C/C++ and other languages.
  • Supports Multiple Printing Technologies: The Z-Engine is compatible with a range of 3D printing technologies, including FDM, SLA, SLS, Inkjet, DLP, and MSLA.

Key Z-Engine Components

Z-Engine addresses critical elements:

  • Core Functionality: This module offers features common across all types of 3D printers, such as parameter management, job management, print sequence handling, logging and configuration.
  • Z-Slicer: This high-performance slicer can be used for pre-print slicing or for real-time processing.
  • Motion Control: Z-Engine offers built-in support for various motion controllers with a user-friendly API.
  • I/O Management: This module provides control over temperature, machine I/O, and process control while supporting various PLC types as well as other devices.
  • Optional Modules: Additional functionalities like projection system interface (DLP and MSLA), jetting system interface (Inkjet), and Z-Inspection (integrated inspection system) are available for specific needs.

“The Z-Engine is a game-changer for the 3D printing industry,” says Visionware3D founder and CEO, Ran Peleg. “By providing a comprehensive and adaptable development platform, we empower companies of all sizes to bring their innovative 3D printing concepts to life, accelerating the advancement of 3D printing technology around the world.”

"Visionware3D understands that many 3D printing software solutions share similar core functionalities," says Dror Danai, chief business officer at Visionware3D. "Instead of reinventing the wheel, we leverage the robust foundation of Z-Engine. This allows our team to customize the software to 3D printer developers’ specific needs, streamlining development and reducing time-to-market. By focusing on customization rather than building from scratch, Z-Engine empowers us to deliver a cost-effective solution."
