VISTAGY, Inc. (Waltham, MA) recently announced that all its software, including the EnCapta product family and the FiberSIM suite, is available for 64-bit Windows x64 editions and optimized for the AMD (Advanced Micro Devices; Sunnyvale, CA) Opteron processor.

With AMD64 computing power and VISTAGY's EnCapta software applications, manufacturers can develop product models of any size or level of complexity with improved precision and accuracy. Design engineers now have the flexibility of running both 32- and 64-bit applications simultaneously, allowing them to grow into AMD64 technology at their own pace and retain existing IT assets to save on equipment and power costs.

In related news, VISTAGY also recently released the latest version of its FiberSIM suite of software, created specifically for the design and manufacture of composite products.

FiberSIM, powered by VISTAGY's EnCapta technology, helps engineers streamline many of the tedious, time-consuming, and complex tasks for designing and manufacturing composite products. The software is integrated into commercial 3D CAD software systems.

FiberSIM's new features for preliminary design include zone-based solid generation for defining zones and shapes to check for space allocation and interferences early in the design process; preliminary zone-based weight calculation to help reduce part weight and assess whether the final part will meet weight requirements; a composite stacking tool to provide an integrated laminate stacking and sequencing capability for automatically establishing the order of plies and generating symmetric and balanced laminates; and a Preliminary Design Interface capability to import or export material specification data between FiberSIM and Microsoft Excel.

The software offers new manufacturing engineering capabilities such as the Spring Back for Manufacturing Laminate feature allowing users to account for the impact of thermal deformation that can cause a part to "spring back" when removed from the manufacturing tool; enhancements in 2D laminate creation; and increased support of all commercial fiber-placement and tape-laying interfaces to improve compatibility with customers' existing design and manufacturing environments.
