ZWSOFT released ZW3D CAD/CAM 2014. This new version features upgraded CAD, more productive Mold and smarter CAM, the company says.

ZW3D's CAD functions have been updated to include an integrated file translator supporting more up-to-date formats of mainstream design software; a simplified feature manager providing faster regeneration; part configuration accelerating design of parts variations; and enhanced 2D sheet presenting production-ready 2D drawings efficiently.

ZW3D CAM includes a newly-developed Tool Path Editor, allowing intuitive control and adjustment of the entire or partial tool-path, the company says.

ZWCAD Design also announced that New Optics, a back light unit (BLU) and light guide plate (LGP) manufacturer in Korea, has selected ZWCAD+ for better team collaboration. ZWCAD+'s file format compatibility allows New Optics to share drawings freely between partners and customers, helping accelerate collaboration within product development.

New Optics has very strict requirements on collaboration since the majority of their designers work in teams on extensive and sophisticated projects. In order to further boost profitability, they have increasingly sought out CAD software that incurs less financial and time investment. On the recommendation of the design team in their Chinese branch, New Optics decided to introduce ZWCAD+ into their Korean headquarters. Designers and customers can open and edit most drawings saved by mainstream CAD software, enabling better collaboration and more accurate outputs, the company says.
