ALGOR Offers Multiplatform Support for Windows, Linux, and Unix

Expanded support for 32- and 64-bit workstations means more efficient engineering.

ALGOR, Inc.(Pittsburgh, PA) has announced support for 64-bit Microsoft Windows,32- and 64-bit Linux, and 64-bit UNIX workstations. This expansionmeans users can analyze larger, more complex models faster inmulticomputing environments.

This multiplatform support means users will be able to build a finiteelement model on a standard PC, send the model to a 64-bit computer forcompute-intensive analysis, and then examine the analysis results onthe PC. This process, says ALGOR, makes computer-aided engineering moreefficient and cost effective.

ALGOR's multiplatform expansion began with V18, which provides linearstatic stress analysis capabilities optimized for 64-bit operatingsystems. It was expected that by the end of 2005, ALGOR would support64-bit Windows and 32- and 64-bit Linux for all analysis types,allowing users to apply the power and speed of these hardware platformsto capabilities like static stress and mechanical event simulation(MES) with linear and nonlinear material models, linear dynamics,fatigue, steady-state and transient heat transfer, steady and unsteadyfluid flow, electrostatics, piping, and full multiphysics. Futurereleases will support 64-bit UNIX workstations from Hewlett-Packard Company, Sun Microsystems, Inc., and IBM Corporation.
