Avante Technology, a provider of advanced 3D printing technologies, has commercially released its Fabricatus Advanced Electronic Controller Board for Desktop 3D printers. The board is designed to support both single and dual extruder FDM (fused deposition modeling) printers, digital displays and Wi-Fi communications.

The controller uses a high performance ARM Cortex M3 CPU capable of supporting real time multi-tasking operations. It has six motor drivers, each independently programmable. It is 4 x 4 inches and has ribbon cable connectors for easy electrical installation with either a 12 or 24 power source.

It has support for USB, Ethernet and SD memory. There are 10 MOSFet outputs for operating heaters, fans and lights. There are also analog inputs for multiple operating heaters and four end-stop inputs. There is also the ability for an expansion port for future RGB display and Wi-Fi options.

Based on an open source hardware design, the controller board runs open source Smoothieware firmware.

The first production units will be available in October.
