64-bit version of MSC.Nastran delivers performance advantage over 32-bit-onlysystems

MSC.Software Corp. (Santa Ana, CA),provider of virtual product development products recentlyannounced the availability of MSC.Nastran for 32- and 64-bit AMDOpteronprocessor-based systems. The 64-bit version of MSC.Nastran on AMDOpteron processor-based systems has demonstrated performanceimprovements of up to 15 percent says MSC, this compared to similar engineeringsimulations run on a 32-bit architecture.

“Many of our customers use our software to solve extremely largeengineering problems and MSC.Nastran for AMD Opteron processor-basedsystems can help them solve these problems faster and even tackleextremely large problems they may have not been able to attempt before,“said Bill Weyand, chairman and chief executive officer of MSC.Software.“We look forward to continuing our work with AMD and our other partnersso our customers can use the latest technology and improved simulationsolving times to reduce product development time and costs.”
