As part of the PlotWave 550 system's security offerings, printer and scanner access can be controlled with the optional Access Management License, which requires user authentication via logon or via supported Smart Card readers, Canon states.
The PlotWave 550 controller's hard disk with the Disk Encryption License and TPM (Trusted Platform Module) is based on Microsoft Windows BitLocker Drive Encryption Technology. Both the TPM and the BitLocker functionality used for data encryption is FIPS 140-2 level 1 validated. Additional security options include a Removable Hard Drive Kit which gives users the ability to remove and lock away the system's hard drive.
“Security features are paramount for technical document users working with sensitive printed or scanned information,” said Toyotsugu Kuwamura, executive vice president and general manager, Business Imaging Solutions Group, Canon U.S.A., Inc. “Canon is at the forefront of this industry movement reshaping the large format landscape, and looks forward to continuing to provide users with reliable and productive solutions that provide users with helpful security features.”
