CoreTechnologie has released 3D_Kernel_IO 2026, adding a function designed to simplify complex CAD models and expanding the capabilities of its CAD interface library.
The German-French software company said the update adds an automation feature to the 3D_Kernel_IO software development kit aimed at reducing model complexity.
CoreTechnologie said the 3D_Kernel_IO API supports import and export across 42 CAD formats. Supported formats include CATIA, NX, Creo, SOLIDWORKS, Inventor, STEP and JT. The company said the application programming interface can read and write native CAD and VR formats without requiring licenses for the originating CAD systems.
The algorithm automatically removes features such as holes and pockets and generates envelope geometries to create simplified models for use in VR and simulation software.
A new function in the 3D_Kernel_IO API generates lightweight models intended to meet rendering requirements through automated CAD simplification that produces closed solids.
The Simplifier function reduces data size while avoiding geometry changes and display degradation often associated with polygon reduction methods.
The method removes internal geometry, including features in complex cast components, and can reduce the number of model elements by up to 95%. The 3D_Kernel_IO function allows 3D software developers to integrate this capability through an SDK without additional development work.
The CAD interface library provides interfaces for processing complex assembly structures in CAD models and accessing information on design elements, semantic PMI and metadata. It brings CAD interoperability capabilities into software applications.
The 3D_Kernel_IO tool is available for Windows, Linux, macOS and ARM platforms. Its query functions are standardized across supported CAD formats, which can reduce integration effort for existing applications.
