The 7-axis CMM Faro platinum arm and Faro laser line probe optical system.

CRP Technology (Modena,Italy) now offers reverse engineering and dimensional inspection services using a 7-axis CMM Faro platinum measuring arm and laser line probe optical system with 3D dimensional scanners to digitize part surfaces, compare them with original 3D CAD models, and generate measurement reports that highlight dimensional discrepancies.

The 7-axis CMM Faro platinum measuring arm and Faro laser line probe optical system is completely portable and allows on site 3D scanning and measurements. The use of the 7-axis arm in combination with the laser system allows for simultaneous contact measurements and optical scanning, using a single reference system. The tool’s lightweight and numerous freedom grades make for fast and reliable scanning of complex, hard-to-reach components. The Faro arm and optics system feature a spherical measuring range of 3 meters (10 ft.), a scanning speed of 19.200 points/second, and 2-sigma accuracy in noncontact measurements: 0.05 mm.

CRP Technology has provided design and construction services to racecar builders and motor racing teams for more than 30 years. The company’s innovative group of selective laser sintering (SLS) composite materials includes Windform XT, the first carbon-fiber filled polymeric material created for high performance SLS technologies. The company has been instrumental in the success of many Formula 1, Moto GP, Rally Raid, World Rally, and ALMS championship teams.
