Daimler Completes Migration to Siemens NX

The company chose the platform for its efficiency and sustainability.

Daimler has completed a project internally known as PLM2015. The initiative has introduced the new Siemens NX CAD software to the organization.

The reason behind the migration from CATIA V5, the company states, was the improvement of efficiency and sustainability. Daimler also wished to integrate its current product data management software with a CAD platform, since it forms the IT framework for development and product planning processes.

Since 2012, more than 6,200 users throughout the company received training. Approximately 33 role-based training modules were made available in German and English.

“I would like to thank all the people who have worked so hard to complete our biggest IT migration project in recent decades to the planned schedule. The introduction of the new design and product data software not only means that we are well prepared for the future. We have also taken the opportunity to bring our engineering processes in line with the highest standards in the automotive industry,” said Michael Gorriz, CIO at Daimler.

Daimler and Siemens will continue to work together to further develop the use of NX throughout the company.
