Delcam will launch PowerSHAPE PRO CAD for CAM 2015 at the International Manufacturing Technology Show in Chicago this September. Improvements, according to the company, will include direct modeling, surface modeling, reverse engineering and support for Creaform HandySCAN devices.

Enhancements for direct modeling capabilities build on the Smart Feature Manger and Smart Feature selector. The manager gives users the ability to identify all features within a solid single operation, decreasing time for analysis of imported data. The selector feature allows multiple similar features to be selected using a specific value or range of values. It also enables engineers to identify any fillets below the required radius and simultaneously enlarge the fillets.

Users can also clean up models created by reverse engineering with the Smart Feature Manager and Selector. PowerSHAPE Pro 2015 has upgraded its reverse engineering functionality to be more automated for capturing cross-sections through a mesh. The program now fits lines and fillets into a cross-section when possible.
