Desktop Engineering (DE) magazine (Dublin, NH) has been selected by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) as a media sponsor of the SME’s RAPID 2008 Conference and Exposition to be held May 20-22 at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort and Convention Center in Lake Buena Vista, FL.

DE and the SME will collaborate to promote RAPID 2008 to their respective communities and create maximum awareness of and participation in the event by attendees and exhibitors. Through a monthly RP&M section in DE magazine, an RP&M section on deskeng.com, and the Elements of RP&M bi-weekly e-newsletter circulation, DE’s media properties reach over 266,000 engineers in North America who are interested in, use and deploy rapid prototyping/manufacturing tools and technology.

DE is extremely proud to be selected by the SME as an official media sponsor of its RAPID 2008 conference,” said Amy Rowell, editorial director. “Rapid prototyping and manufacturing plays an increasingly important role in accelerating time-to-market for manufacturers around the globe, and DE’s selection by the SME is testimony to the publication’s position as a knowledge leader in the RP&M market. DE provides information that helps design and manufacturing engineers better understand the latest developments in MCAD, CAE, IT and RP&M, and through our partnership with the SME and its RAPID 2008 conference, we look forward to helping educate engineering, manufacturing and design professionals in this key area of the product design/development process.”

“RAPID is North America's largest annual rapid manufacturing conference and exposition, and DE is honored to have been chosen as a strategic partner by the SME to help grow the event,” said Brian Vaillancourt, publisher. “Through the lens of DE, we’ve long watched and reported on the exciting products and technologies encompassed by RP&M, direct manufacturing, and reverse engineering and their impact on the product design/development process. In collaboration with the SME and its RAPID event, DE has now taken a more proactive role to help accelerate the North American manufacturing industry’s increased adoption of these tools and technologies and compete more effectively on a global scale.”

The SME Rapid 2008 Conference & Exposition, “RAPID” is North America's largest annual rapid manufacturing conference and exposition. The event brings buyers, sellers and end-users of design, prototyping, tooling, and direct manufacturing technologies together in an environment that facilitates networking and business interaction.
