Eos Systems (Vancouver, BC, Canada)released PhotoModeler 6.3 with Ringed Automatically Detected Target (RAD) aswell as an enhanced automation module.

The newrelease promises customers the ability to generate accurate 3D measurements and3D point sets using a standard digital camera. Included in the list of newbenefits are improved speed, lower cost of operation, and a selection of widervariety of scenes and objects that can be captured.

The RADTarget is a new form of coded target called the RAD Target offers automaticdetection and matching of points across multiple photographs. In the RAD set are999 unique codes, which offer more different types of objects and scenes to bemeasured.

New errordetection methods in PhotoModeler 6.3 have also been improved so that automatedprojects have a better opportunity to execute without errors even withchallenging targets such as ones that are too small or blurred, or partiallyobscured.

Anautomated measurement project is said to take four steps with this new 6.3release: 1) the user places RAD targets on the object or in the scene, 2) takesphotos from different angles, 3) starts the PhotoModeler Automation softwarethen loads the photos, and 4) then clicks on the ‘Run RAD project’ button. Theproduct of this procedure is a high-accuracy 3D point set that can be exportedinto different CAD formats or can be added to with lines, curves, and surfaces.

ThePhotoModeler Automation bundle (PhotoModeler + RAD Coded Target module) isavailable for $1295 in the USA and Canada. Also available as an add-on forexisting PhotoModeler customers for $395 is the RAD Coded Target module.Existing owners of the Coded Targets 6.x module or PhotoModeler Scanner areeligible for a free upgrade of RAD Targets.
