Eurocom Releases 1TB Travelstar Hard Drive

Eurocom is releasing the 2.5 in., 1TB Travelstar Z5K1000 drive. This technology, according to the company, is the industry's fastest 7.0 mm HDD with robustness and can fit within a full line of laptops and fully upgradeable workstations.

The Travelstar is compatible with a full line of RAID-able SSDs (solid-state drives), HDDs, mSATA and M.2 drives. It has a 26% slimmer z-height compared to traditional 9.5 mm 2.5 in. drives, and weighs only 95 grams. It is the company's seventh-generation self-encrypting drive and is equipped with HGST's bulk data encryption.

Technical specifications for the Travelstar Z5K1000 include:

  • Advanced Format, 512-byte emulation
  • 6Gb/s SATA interface
  • Dual-stage actuator
  • 5400 rpm
  • 1000G/1ms non-operating shock; 400G/2ms operating shock
  • 600,000 load/unload cycles
  • 32MB data buffer
