Poland-headquartered Evatronix has just launched the eviXscan 3D FinePrecision, a new addition to its eviXscan product line. The FinePrecision model is equipped with blue LED light source and two fast 8.9 Mpix cameras, recording more than 1200 points per square millimeter of the scanned surface, the company revealed. 

"The advantage of the eviXscan 3D FinePrecision scanner is the short scanning time," according to the company's announcement. "The combination of high-speed cameras and the modern DLP light projection system, whose signal triggers the cameras every time a new pattern is displayed, reduces the scan acquisition time to several hundred milliseconds."

The FinePrecision scanner is "ideal for scanning implants, prosthetics, watchmaking and jewelry. The precision of the scanner also allows you to use it to optimize the 3D printing process," Evatronix explained. "The combination of high-speed cameras and the next generation of DLP light projection
system, whose signal triggers the cameras every time a new pattern is displayed, allows you to limit the scan acquisition time to several hundred milliseconds."

Evatronix, established in 1991, began operating as CAD and EDA (Electronics Design automation) software reseller based in Poland, but later entered the semi conductor IP business. After being acquired by Cadence Design System in 2013, Evatronix reinvented itself as a 3D scanner maker. The company also offers the eviXscan 3D software suite with tools for scan parameter setting, scan preview, and marker adjustment and removal. 

For output, the eviXscan FinePrecision supports STL, PLY, and OBJ formats, among others. The eviXscan scanners are priced between €20,000-55,000 (U.S. $23,850-65,600). The eviXscan FinePrecision is priced €29,000 (U.S. $34,500). 

The eviXscan FinePrecision is in a similar price range as Artec's Leo, a cordless handheld professional scanner, selling for $29,800. Metrology hardware maker Leica Geosystems, part of Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence, also offers 3D scanner.
